The last 5 weeks...

Gosh, it's been five weeks already. That is unbelievable. I know everyone who is waiting for their referral thinks five weeks is forever! But not when they are home. It flies by! Our sweet pea is settling in but that hasn't come with out some challenges. We are in the midst of dealing with some "indiscriminate affection towards strangers". What does that term mean? It means that our sweet pea is lovin and huggin on folks that she doesn't know very well. And it is lots of lovin. As a matter of fact if my sister is around and she gets hurt, she would stay with Annie and not "need" mommy. It is really an attachment issue. Not something that we can't overcome, it just takes lots of close parenting and everyone except dh, the kiddos and mom are off limits. No one else can hold her, comfort her, offer her food, have eye contact for too long. ONLY US!! Stuff like that. The biggest challenge is, is that our sweet pea is so darn adorable and wants to be picked up, tickled etc. that people naturally are drawn to her. But this is important stuff and it is most important that she has a healthy attachment to us, her forever parents and then she can learn to love others. Other than that she seems to be one of the family already, fighting with her siblings, saying she is "all done" after taking two bites of dinner, ya know, the "normal" stuff. Her English is coming along, about a new phrase every other day or so. Her hair is growing and so are her feet! I just ordered a new pair of super cute crocs in size 8/9 up from her 6/7 that she can still wear! She is still wearing 3T's comfortably. Did I mention she was free and clear of any parasites too? This little peanut had a very careful, loving mom who really kept her children healthy. Sweet pea had no head fungus, lice, ring worm, no parasites, nothing. She has a very clean bill of health. So very thankful for that. And mentioning her mom, Aleena has decided to call her mom, "Momma Medina or Medina Momma" she reverses the order sometimes. It was interesting today because she has two framed pictures. One of her with her siblings and one of herself with me, dh and Momma Medina. Today she said "Dad" was not her dad but her little brother's dad. I told her she had two moms and one daddy (sadly, her bio. dad was killed a few months before she was born so she has never met or seen him in photos). After a few minutes she started renaming everyone in the pictures and did call dh "Dad". Anyway, here are a few new pictures...
Nothing like waking up to a great cup of Chai tea and getting to drink it in your pajamas! We participated in a homeschooling event called, "Geography Day" (but it was at nite). Guess what country we chose? My sister and her family helped out too!
This is the kids at the Children's Museum. I'll post about that in my homeschooling blog so move over there to read about it!Another family photo. We have our first 3 month post placement report due in October and we need to send in some pictures. I know at least one has to be a family picture. So we are trying to take more of those (when we all look decent, hard to do these days!!)I don't know, what do you think? Does sweet pea like to have her picture taken or what?

I can see that she would be very friendly with everyone. It's got to be tough to rein all that cuteness in. :)

I'm sending you an email...
