Japanese Beatles. What can I say? They are EVERYWHERE! The kids loved catching these bad guys and throwing them to their demise...in a bucket of soapy water!! YUCK!

Things have settled down around here with my Major Cutie. Still some of the same ole' behaviors but nothing seems as "major" as it has in the past. (Well except her cuteness. She is still Majorly cute!!) Sometimes I wonder if that is just me becoming more patient or more loving or if she is finding her groove. Feeling like she is fitting in. Like she knows she belongs here. Today we had an episode that resulting in her going to bed a bit early. I had told her she would have to go to bed early if she didn't do what she was suppose to do but then when it happened I felt all nervous inside. I was bummed out she decided to do her own thing and I had to now follow through. I even called my sister and asked if I should follow through!! What? This isn't like me. I try really hard to follow through. But tonight it made me sad for her and I just wanted to not put her to bed early. She was crying and sad. But as I went to her, before I said anything I walked up stairs with her (and she willingly walked with me) and she asked if she could have a book before bed. I calmly told her no she had to go right to bed. No cries or tantrums. Major Cutie just went to get her pj's, came back so I could brush her teeth and we walked to her bedroom, tucked her in and prayed. That was it. She was OK with it all. Maybe she felt security in knowing the rules and what happens when you break them. There was no crying, fighting or yelling from either of us. Isn't that awesome. God is working on us isn't He?
Talk soon.

You have captured some really great shots of your kids lately :-) Glad to hear about MC's settling in. I hate to follow through on that stuff, too, but it seems like it really made her feel more secure. I'm so glad for your family.
Blessings,
Beth

Ok Jen,
How did you overcome the language barrier? Grace does not speak english and although I can say a few Amharic words and demonstrate what I want, I can tell she is frustrated with the inability to speak to us. She can say: no, ice cream, picture, color, mama, daddy, but that's about it. It's only been a week, but I'd like to help her as much as I can.
