FINALLY!!!!!!

It has been FOREVER since I have been able to post! My access to my google account has been denied since the 15th! After calling Comcast, talking to Dell for literally 2 1/2hrs, emailing blogger, google and BSAFE I have finally solved the problem (it was with my Bsafe security)! So here is what has been going on with our adoption.....(a bit long).

We are #33 on the girl wait list and this is a good number! We are told the wait is around 4-6months! This blew me away because back in April '06 when we were checking out agencies we were told it would be 12-18mth wait for a girl referrel. Then when we signed the contract in September '06 we were told the wait was much shorter at 6 months. Now as we have turned in every last bit of our dossier(on 11-22-06)we are now at a 4-6month wait for a referrel! Just hold on though. This doesn't mean we will have our daugther here with us in 4-6 months. This means that she will be born in 4-6 months. We will fly down to meet her, prayfully her birthmom and sign Power of Attorney (POA). Then we will come back home without her and wait for the Guatemalan gov't to do their thing. This is estimated to be an additional 4-7 month wait. So in all likelyhood, and Lord willing, we will bring our daughter home at between 4-8 months old. Now I know the last time I have personally talked to some of you we were adopting a "toddler-aged" girl and now we are saying "when she is born". Yes, we are waiting for the referrel of a girl between the ages of 0-3 years. We have been told that there are toddlers in the sister orphanage but they are not available to be adopted at this time. It will probably be 2-3 years before they can be adopted (very complicated to write about here). So Larry and I are putting it in God's hands (where all of this should be anyway). When we are #1 on the referrel list God will present us with our daugther through the hands of All God's Children Inter'l. We are told, most likey a newborn. I've included a picture of all the paperwork we had to do. It was a ton!

Ok, what you see here are 17 documents that needed to be notarized and then sealed at the Great Seal in Lansing, two packets of other forms with 10 copies made of each and each indivually signed (yes 20 siggys from both Larry and I), a photo album for the birthmother, a baby album for the baby to have while she waits for us, 3 pages of photos for the Guatemalan Gov't and the thing with our photo on it is our family DVD. We also sent in an application to the USCIS permitting us to adopt a "foreign child" and allowing us to bring her to the US. And we also visited the bank to send that off with the paperwork too! All in all it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed the process but am glad to no longer have it in my home where I constantly looked it over and over and over every nite! Thanks for checking in! Oh two last pics of the kids at our state capitol the day we had our documents sealed.

Hi Jen!

Oh, I'll bet it's wonderful to have that paperwork signed, sealed, and sent off.

I checked with your agency on Ethiopia and they have very detailed, good information on the program, though of course it is still very new. I just got an info packet in the mail from them this week, but didn't know about their Ethiopa program, as it's too new to be in the packet. Thanks for telling me! Now, just this afternoon, I have all the info on the program, so I've added it to our list of agencies for Ethiopia.
We'll see which agency it is!!!

How cool to know the referral timeframes! I think that's exciting.

Jennifer- I am so excited that you have joined the waiting list and the time frame is not too bad! I have so enjoyed getting to know you through the yahoo group. I eagerly await hearing about the blessings God brings you through your adoption journey!

Ok since you lurk I will lurk too. And this should be fun. I never had to wait for a referral so that is all new to me, also we didn't have to go and sign the POA we just mailed it in. But all agencies are different. Anyway just saying HI and welcome to the wait...lol.
