1/2 a year home...

Today marks 6 months home for our Major Cutie. It's true that time really does fly. Looking back at video of bringing her home I can hardly believe how small she was. How "lost" she looked in this new world. She covered it well with her constagious laughter but behind that beautiful, white smile was a ovewhelmed little girl. But Major Cutie's a fighter and a risk taker. She has easily won her way into the hearts of many. She loves to laugh and being silly is her thing! And boy is she loud! I can only imagine how "americanized" she'll really seem when we are given the chance to travel back to Ethiopia. If you've been there you will know exactly what I mean. The women hardly speak above a whisper and the men don't speak that much louder! As a matter of fact most of the time answers are given with facial expressions. I miss the very slightly raised eyebrows and the nod...Major Cutie will still do this when she is really sick. Sometimes it triggers the strangest feelings for me when I catch that look from her...I'll probably post about this past 6 months all week to add more pictures and as I remember more.

One thing that really stands out is when we first brought Major Cutie home was that for the first week she would kiss her socks and underwear everytime she'd open the drawer to them in her dresser. She would also automatically roll the waist of any pair of pants she wore. Heck, she needed to as they would just fall off, they still do if they don't have that adjustable waist...must be nice! LOL! It didn't take long to figure out she could sit completely down in the bath tub. That was so much fun to see the excitement on her face! Major Cutie would also want to be dressed at the crack of dawn even down to putting on her shoes. She always wanted to have shoes on. Well not anymore, today she likes to stay in her pj's all day, better yet she likes to walk around with no shirt on!!! And shoes? She complains about getting them on nowadays. Boy how things have changed!

In some ways I can't believe that Major Cutie has been home...yet on the other hand it seems like Major Cutie has ALWAYS been here! I can't imagine your family without her in it. She brings that spunky-peppy vibe out in all that are around her...if that made any sense...hehe!

It stopped me in my tracks when I read that she used to kiss her socks and underwear. I had to read it over and over again and I now have a big lump in my throat. I hope you do continue to celebrate 6 months by sharing more and more...I can't get enough of Major Cutie!

Wow, 6 months! It is so amazing how fast they loose the Ethiopian traits, kind of sad too. Kyah did the same whisper and eyebrow raised nod. She is a beauty, that Major Cutie, heheee, sorry couldn't help it:)
